Brownsville Farms New Rotary Parlour

Lower Cove, New Brunswick
Overview:

Brownsville Farms, a thriving multi-generational dairy operation just outside Sussex, NB, had outgrown its traditional herringbone parlour. Ready for a leap forward, the Brown family set their sights on a modern rotary milking system to improve efficiency, reduce labour strain, and future-proof the farm.

About The Project:

Rural Roots served as both engineering partner and design collaborator, working alongside Boumatic’s Wisconsin-based design team, local suppliers, and the Browns themselves to develop a system tailored to the unique demands of a high-output dairy.

We also provided structural engineering for the new pre-engineered steel building, laying a strong foundation — literally — for the upgraded facility.
The Design Process Prioritized:

Animal welfare, ensuring calm, low-stress flow through the rotary

•Operator efficiency, streamlining tasks and reducing physical workload

•Equipment compatibility, with a precise layout for machinery and utilities

Result & Impact:

The rotary parlour has transformed daily operations at Brownsville Farms, increasing throughput, enhancing cow comfort, and improving the working conditions for staff. The project stands as a testament to how smart engineering and thoughtful collaboration can modernize legacy farms without compromising their roots.

From barn floor to steel beam, Rural Roots is proud to help local agriculture evolve sustainably and intelligently.
